Tetrataenium birmanicum (syn. Heracleum birmanicum) is a perennial herb in the carrot family Apiaceae, native from Arunachal Pradesh through Myanmar to northern Thailand and surrounding regions. Locally in northern Thailand it is prized as a culinary spice with aromatic dried fruits that emit a complex, coriander-like scent when lightly toasted and ground. In Lanna cuisine it is considered the “queen” of laab spices, contributing a deep, warm, sweet-herb fragrance that enhances traditional meat salad blends and balances hotter elements
